How to Layer Over Your Leather Jacket
Winter is here! It’s that ever-deceiving time of year when we are past the holidays and ready for Spring but really there is still a few more months of harsh winter stretched out ahead of us. If you are like me you are probably already sick of your heavy winter coats and are craving a bit more stylish of an option that packs a bit more of a fashion punch. As an alternative to your traditional winter coat I give you coat layering: I way to just stay just as warm and by stylish in these last few months of winter.
Layering different pieces of outerwear isn’t anything new but it becomes exceptionally practical when temperatures dip in the winter. The easiest way to do this is to take a leather jacket (your ‘indoor jacket’) and throw another larger coat over the top. I thought that this idea was fairly novel until during the Bomb Cyclone storm in New York I saw many fashionable New Yorkers adopt exactly this technique.
In today’s look I paired my favorite Isabel Marant Wool Jacket in plaid (very northwest-y of me) with a more fitted slightly cropped leather jacket. The jacket’s length helps highlight the midi skirt without being overwhelming while the wool jacket adds dimension and warmth. Topped off with my favorite tights alternative: the sock boot, I am not only cozy but on trend at the same time.
