How to Take Your Holiday Velvet into the New Year
Velvet couldn’t be a hotter trend this season and this luxurious fabric isn’t going away anytime soon. Which begs the question: how does one transition the velvet trend past the holidays?
In today’s look we are pairing a velvet bodysuit with a white suit jacket and pants for a ‘where anywhere’ holiday look complete with princess headband, but that’s not the only outfit this velvet number lends itself to. Both velvet and pink are going to have a huge moment come Spring 2017 meaning our bodysuit is the perfect item to have in your closet. Rather than pairing down the color like we did in winter, come springtime we should be emphasizing brights against the soft hue and making it POP. What I love about a bodysuit option is it can be worn open in a sexy, devil-may-care way for your holiday/New Years festivities, yet it works just as well with a tank underneath or pinned shut for just about any occasion. The sleeve length on this particular body suit is also easy for layering over and under. Feeling daring? Try a fitted turtleneck under the body suit for a more conservative transitional look.
Velvet in 2017 is no longer a fabrication simply restricted to holidays and the less ‘holiday-ish’ your velvet item and the color of it is the easier it will be to wear in the spring. So steer clear of dark colors and longer cuts and if you have a red velvet dress know that it’s going to be a bit more challenging, but we will still show you how to wear it. Happy Holidays and thanks for reading.
