Transitioning Your Summer Dresses Into Fall Using Fall’s Best Layering Trends

I am a self-proclaimed dress in the summer, pants in the winter person, in part due to Seattle’s seasonal weather and in part due to my aversion to tights. This year however, I spent all summer finding new ways to ‘winterize’ my dresses since layering a dress over rather than under other clothing has been a major emerging trend. We have layered evening dresses over sweatshirts, slip dresses over tee shirts and today we are layering a multi-purpose floor length dress over a lightweight knit dress. How does that work? The Keepsake navy dress is actually a loose hanging dress with a drop waist so there was plenty of room…

Off-Duty Style With Pom Pom Sneakers

‘Off-duty style’, as it’s called these days is one of my favorite ways of dressing: casual with a nonchalant attitude. If you are someone with olive skin coloring like myself nothing could look worse on you then a pastel blue or even worse, a pastel pink. So I tore up the rule book and decided to completely ignore the Pantone rules this year until a strange thing started happening in street fashion. Blush started appearing everyone, not ‘baby pink.’ This slightly yellow…

3 Tips for Wearing a Bodysuit Like a Boss

If you had told me a year ago that I would be buying bodysuits left and right and LOVING them I probably would have laughed and told you that sure, I love the 80’s but we all have our limits!!… and I would have wrong. This Zara floral number is what begrudgingly convinced me to try the trend. It was such a pretty top and LORD HELP US it had basically underwear attached. Perhaps I should have seen this coming though as I am a huge fan of the ‘ditch the bra and wear a shirt open down to there’ showing off lots of rib cage trend, one of the…

New Fall Trends: Bell Sleeves and Camo Overalls

You have to love when new trends start emerging as the seasons change because 1) It’s something new and fresh to try in your wardrobe and 2) it’s a great excuse to go shopping. New items that have different prints and silhouettes are also a great way to revitalize existing pieces in your wardrobe as well. Starting with the Bell Sleeve: this was a trend that was worn by almost every single Fashion week attendee this past month regardless of their age or style sense. Why? It is such a fun easy way to update the basic blouse or shirt that we wear in some form or another almost every…
