Ethereal Florals Meet Menswear: All About the Outerwear
Today is the last in our series of Ethereal Florals and menswear and while we started focusing on light passing through a semi sheer dress we are ending quite differently. Today it’s all about the coat. As much as each dress has been a conduit for light each coat this week has served to block it and create amazing shadows which are a beautiful contrast to the airy florals. In a saturated orange hue this particular coat both blocks the light and seems to funnel it inwards highlighting different shades of orange much like the sunset in the summer time. Heading into fall outerwear becomes one of our main focuses…

Ethereal Florals Meet Menswear: Thoreau Edition
“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” -Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods I have been contemplating the concept of how we spend our time lately, in most part because there never seems to be enough of it. While juggling a regular job, a side hustle like blogging, taking care of a family (even if it’s a furry one) and in my case traveling to visit my fiance while also running his business on the side, time…

The 3 Things You Need For a Perfectly Polished Look: Neutral Layers
3 things are all you need for a perfectly polished look, that’s all you need in order to pull together a great outfit that is Fall ready and on trend. What I find so compelling about this idea is that you already have these 3 things in your closet in some form or another. Sure over the knee and ankle boots are on trend at the moment but that doesn’t mean your classic knee high boots need to get tossed. A cocoon overcoat hangs on your coat peg each day and that perfectly balances out your boots for a sophisticated pants-less look. The newsboy cap may be a new element…

Ethereal Florals Meet Menswear: Part 1
There is nothing more feminine than an ethereal, flowing floral dress that catches the light and billows about you when you walk. Zara did a full line of dresses this past summer with various crochet and asymmetrical details telling us that the trend is just beginning. These are dreamy florals in washed out colors with subtle knife pleating that plays with the light and the shadows. This trend is so feminine with its semi sheer almost night gown feeling style that I had no choice but to throw a menswear inspired structured coat over it. They simply worked too perfectly together. This camel coat inspired by a traditional man’s overcoat with…

The 3 Things You Need For a Perfectly Polished Look: 80’s (wannabe) Supermodel Edition
Sometimes the word ‘polished’ gets a bad rap. The connotations of ‘stuffy’ and ‘boring’ pop into our head when polished can really mean pulled together and a whole lot of fun. In today’s look we are exploring those same 3 key items, the Brixton Fiddler, a great pair of boots and an oversized coat. Today though we are in full 80’s supermodel mode channeling Linda Evangelista in our ‘are you sure that’s a dress?’ Apple vintage sweatshirt and maximalist details. 3 Key Pieces can mean 3 basic items or 3 Not At All Basic items and today we are embracing the latter. This Topshop coat reminds us of a Chanel…
