The Year of the Dress: Yes, You Need a Puffy Mini Dress
Call it the ‘Elle’ effect, but not her tanning line but instead her boho, short dress with boots look. The Elle I am talking about is Elle Ferguson of the ‘They All Hate Us’ fame but she isn’t the only one embracing this trend. Puffed sleeves, ruffles, lace and short hems. They are the perfect dresses for feeling slightly whimsical and empowered all at the same time. Blame Love Shack Fancy and their girly pieces for women of all ages. Or perhaps Zimmerman who also embraced the short hem and overtly feminine vibe. If you thought dresses like this were just for girls it’s time to think again. Intricate lacework,…

3 Things I Am Doing Differently This Year at NYFW
It’s almost here! One of my absolute favorite times of the year, New York Fashion week! It may seem far away with an entire month to go but when you are planning for fashion week, this is crunch time. While I have been deep in planning mode both from outfits to events I realized I have learned a lot in the past year. I attended two New York Fashion weeks with two very different types of people and I learned a lot. Here’s what I am doing differently this year. Collaboration over Competition: Meet People! Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone with a Hot New Fall Trend
I definitely do not consider myself shy when it comes to fashion. I love bold, loud colors and styles. When it comes to prints and clashing I wear them with confidence. Yet even I sometimes struggle to get out of my comfort zone. The culprit? This very millennial street-style look with a crop top reminiscent of Leeloo in the 5th element and pants that can actually hold my giant iphone and some snacks for later. We all get intimidated by fashion at some point or other. It’s what we do when that happens that defines our personal style. Cargo pants and heels have been an interesting trend for the past…

When Hype Goes Wrong: Why the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Has Gotten a Bad Rap, and Why You Should Shop it Anyway
As you guys know I am from Seattle, born and raised, which means I am also a Nordstrom girl through and through. Need proof? The first job my parents ‘encouraged’ me to get on my first winter break in college was at Nordstrom Rack. After that I went on to work in 4 different stores in 2 states and even interned with the company during school. If that wasn’t enough, as an adult I worked at Nordstrom’s Corporate Headquarters for 4 years before quitting to spend my time on this, my fashion blog. I am a die hard Nordy girl, but even I understand some of the negativity on social…

Hello Yellow! 1 Easy Trick to Breathe New Life into Last Year’s Favorite Color
It’s a common misconception that as a fashion blogger I am all about things that are ‘new new new!’ While the latest and the greatest thing is nice to have the best items are those that you can wear season after season. I feel that way about a lot of the colors I have in my wardrobe. Red-Orange, Mustard and Cobalt blue are absolute staples in my closet but I am always looking for new ways to make them feel fresh and new. Last year was a big moment for Mustard in particular and I stocked up on rich hued yellow items. This year it’s a big deal too but…
