Blush: The Breakout Color of the Year
Every year when Pantone announces their colors of the year I close one eye and hold my breath PRAYING that it will be an universally flattering shade like Berry or Navy. This year however I was slightly mortified to hear pastel blue and pink were taking center stage. If you are someone with olive skin coloring like myself nothing could look worse on you then a pastel blue or even worse, a pastel pink. So I tore up the rule book and decided to completely ignore the Pantone rules this year until a strange thing started happening in street fashion. Blush started appearing everyone, not ‘baby pink.’ This slightly yellow hued, milder tone is incredibly flattering on many skin tones and leans more towards the camel family (perhaps the most universally flattering neutral of all.)
Blush was something I could 100% get on board with as it is feminine, reminds me of my ballet years but isn’t truly a pink pink in my book. Combined with camel, like in today’s outfit, it cuts quite the chic silhouette appealing to the feminine sophisticate in all of us. Blush is officially the breakout color the year and I encourage you to try it out and see for yourself how you too can look fabulous in ‘baby pink’s’ much cooler (or warmer as the case may be) cousin.
