“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” -Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods

I have been contemplating the concept of how we spend our time lately, in most part because there never seems to be enough of it. While juggling a regular job, a side hustle like blogging, taking care of a family (even if it’s a furry one) and in my case traveling to visit my fiance while also running his business on the side, time is the most precious thing I have to allocate. Which begs the question, if you have to choose how and where to spend your time which truly is the most important? Does your day job actually rank high enough on your priority list to warrant it’s opportunity cost in other areas of your life? Or perhaps your ‘hobby’ is taking away from time your should be using to advance your career? I seem to keep stumbling over the concept of happiness and trying to spend your daily allotment of life on the things that bring you richness and fulfillment rather than things that merely pass the time.

Thoreau’s words from Walden have always resonated with me since they speak to making choices to actively spend your time rather than simply letting it pass by you. In our over-connected technological world it is all to easy to do the latter and we run the risk of waking up in 20 years wondering whether we actually spent those years in an impactful way and whether we truly have anything to show for them. This blog is one of the things I am proud to have to show how I have spent my time over the past 2 years and I as I sat on the water in these photos I hope to spend even more time on this passion project of mine as it brings me so much joy and allows me to fully express my creative self. Thank you for giving me a slice of your time every day as you visit Blogger Not Billionaire, I truly appreciate every moment you spend engaging with me and allowing me to share my vision with you. I leave you with this:

“The cost of a thing is the amount of what I will call life which is required to be exchanged for it, immediately or in the long run.”-Thoreau

So make sure what you are trading your time for is always worth it as time is our most precious resource. -Rebecca
