Get this Fall ’17 Runway Look Straight from Your Closet

The Fall 2017 runway shoes have come to a close and now we are all ready for Fall, even though Spring hasn’t even come yet. That doesn’t mean you can’t embrace some of the upcoming season’s trends early, especially when they are already living in your closet. The Joseph collection at London Fashion week was to me one of the most easily wearable collections perhaps because so many of the items shown either looked like something in my closet or something that I desperately needed in my closet but one particular look really stood out to me: the blush oversized turtleneck with cherry red wide leg pants.
Now if you have been following the blog for a while you know that I have had a pair of similar cherry red pants for ages and I wear them consistently, regardless of whether they are super on-trend or not. They are just very ‘Rebecca’ so to me they are always in style. When I saw a similar pair strutting down the Joseph runway you can imagine my delight that my favorite pants are CLEARLY back in style. What was even more marvelous was the sweater paired with these wonderful trousers was remarkably similar to, you guessed it, a chunky blush colored sweater that I have also had in my closet for 2+ years now. You might think that since I have had both items in my closet for so long that the inspiration to pair them together in a beautiful blush+cherry combo would have crossed my mind, but sadly I must admit that it never has. Which is one of the reasons we pay attention to fashion week every season.
Even if you buy nothing new in the coming season what Fashion Week is really there for is inspiration: how to reinvent a look, a trend, an item, to make it new and fresh again. This particular Joseph pairing, which heavier on the fabric choices, also feels very appropriate for Spring hence my rush to wear it ASAP and feel like a million dollars since I am wearing a look that is basically straight off the runway through the lens of my closet. This inspiration and challenge to wear customary items in new, interesting ways is why we pour over each runway show each season and it is also way Fashion week is my favorite time of year each year. So as we go over runway recaps in the coming weeks challenge yourself to think “how can I recreate this with what I already have” in addition to isolating the new pieces that you wish to acquire for the season. Thank you so much for reading. Cheers-Rebecca
