Milan Fashion Week: Classic Heritage Style with a Twist

Milan Fashion Week 16 -BloggerNotBillionaire

Milan Fashion week started out with a bang, or a splash or whatever you would like to call the runway magic that is Alessandro Michele’s Gucci collection. While Gucci has certainly been bringing extravagant style to the runway the aesthetic in Milan is usually slightly more muted, very classic and timeless. That being said, some of the hottest fashionistas in Italian fashion lately also happen to be some of the most cutting edge.

Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini are street style favorites that I am sure you have seen on all of your favorite street style blogs incorporating their heritage Italian style with the latest trends of the season. In true Italian style they are dressed in a classic dress, boot and hat combo one moment and then pushing the envelope with a slip dress over a sweatshirt the next. Today’s look inspired by Milan Fashion week gives a nod to the former way of dressing but with a slight twist.

The trend of a shirt dress and knee high boots is one that I have seen now at multiple Milan Fashion weeks, it is actually a quite practical way to wear a dress and stay a bit warmer while adding an edge to an otherwise simple silhouette. The newsboy cap is a classic that of course adds a slightly more boyish touch to an otherwise feminine outfit. Color is also something that Italians do not shy away from, something that absolutely distinguishes them from some of their other European counterparts. In that spirit today’s Fashion Week inspired look is full of beautiful color that add a playfulness to the outfit and make the pop of yellow in the matching Celine bag seem carefree rather than studied. Overall Milan fashion is about color, classic styles that feel comfortable and just enough edge to bring modernity to your look without trying too hard. Thanks so much for reading, now on to the next city! -Rebecca
